STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A police raid in Richmond Valley uncovered cocaine, oxycodone, meth, steroids and cash secreted inside backpacks, a silver case and a cardboard box, authorities allege.

Officers armed with search warrants swarmed the car and home of Jude Aybar, 52, of Madsen Avenue, on March 9 around 2:20 p.m., according to the criminal complaint and police.

Aybar was sitting in the driver’s seat of a black, 2021 Acura sedan, police say.

Officers found 14 plastic zipper bags and a twist containing cocaine along with an undisclosed amount of cash in a backpack placed on the front passenger seat, the complaint alleges.

Two cells phones also were located on the front passenger seat.

During the raid of the defendant’s home, officers allege they found drugs stashed inside a silver case and a cardboard box in a bedroom closet.

The stash in the silver case included 45 plastic zipper bags and two twists of cocaine, a plastic pill bottle containing 66 tablets of oxycodone, two scales with residue of cocaine, and various colors of zipper bags typically used for the packaging of drugs, the complaint alleges.

A brown cardboard box held at least 100 pills and 10 vials of anabolic steroids, the complaint alleges. Multi-colored plastic bags holding the tablets were labelled “WINSTROL (DRAGON PHARMA),” “SUMMER CUTTING CYCLE” and “GP OXAN,” and labels on vials included “GP MAST” and “GP TREN,” according to the complaint.

Inside a second closet in the bedroom was a backpack containing an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.

Aybar was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell and criminal possession of a controlled substance.

The defendant has been released on his own recognizance and is due back in Criminal Court on June 9, according to public records.

“Mr. Aybar faces very serious charges,” said attorney Michael Vitaliano, who is defending Aybar. “My office is thoroughly reviewing the facts, circumstances, and discovery surrounding his case. We look forward to a fair, just and expeditious resolution.”
